Several weeks ago my husband and I hand-delivered some documents to the Department of Social Services related to my husband’s request for financial assistance for paying someone to stay home to help take care of him. There was a lot of work involved in preparing the form and gathering a ton of supportive data. We figured that if we hand-delivered it then the application would be processed quicker and they could not say that they never got it (lost in the mail.)

Unbelievable but true – we got a letter in the mail telling us that they received the application but none of the supporting documentation! I hand delivered that myself – it was all in a manilla envelope together. How did all of the supporting documentation disappear? Am I now going to be a victim of identity theft? How can anyone be so inept as to put the application in the computer system but none of the documentation? I could just scream!
