Shopping at Wal-Mart today, something on the end of an aisle caught my eye. There were huge cardboard boxes stacked on top of each other and a hole was cut from the front of a couple of them. Inside the boxes were bags of marshmallows.

I didn’t give that much notice until a second glance and I realized that these were new, HUGE marshmallows. The plastic bags were extra large and the marshmallows inside were as big as lemons or maybe plums. I have never seen marshmallows this big! I don’t know that I could even eat one whole one – they have to be nothing but sugar.

We’ve been Costco members ever since I can remember. They have saved me a whole lot of money over the years, with their discount prices and bulk buying opportunities.

Today I stopped by the Costco to pick up a few things. I even remembered to bring my Costco coupon book. So, as I pushed the big cart down the aisles, I stopped in the dog food and dog treats sections and shopped for a new treat to take home to my fur-babies.

Costco has a coupon to save $3.50 off the club price of a dog treat called, “Nylabone Nubz, Edible Dental Dog Chews.” With the coupon, that makes this treat too good a bargain to pass by.

The Nylabone Nubz is made from real chicken and is even shaped like little chicken drumsticks. According to what I could read, the treats have no added sugar, salt, or preservatives. There are a lot of them in the bag – it looks like this treat bag might last more than a week.

Everyone has been talking about bedbugs the past week or two. All the news outlets are running articles, the morning shows are interviewing people, and the Internet is full of search results about how to get rid of these pests.

Evidently it is very hard to get rid of bedbugs from not only your bed but also any upholstered furniture you have, and even clothing and coats. Today I read a warning about buying bedding or furniture from flea markets, as items from those places have a high likelihood of bringing bedbugs into your home.

This won’t work for bed and large pieces of furniture, but if you happen to have any clothing, stuffed animals, or coats that show signs of a bedbug infestation, you can put that item into a large ziploc bag, and then place the bag into the freezer for 3-4 days. That will kill both any bedbugs and their eggs, as they cannot survive being frozen.

I’m always looking for smart storage ideas. I’m a pack-rat, and I admit that I have a hard time throwing things away. But often times the things that I want to hang onto have no real value other than sentimental. And that is a real problem, because I’m a Virgo, and I need to be practical in everything that I do.

And I suspect that no matter how large a house I had, I would still fill every nook and cranny up with more and more “stuff.” I just hope that I don’t end up on some reality television intervention show like “hoarders!”

Having said that, I’ve been thinking about using some glass racks in my kitchen to help me to better utilize my kitchen storage space. I’m thinking that I could put a stemware rack on the underside of one of my cabinet shelves and then store platters underneath the glasses. And I’d like to get a wine glass rack to organize all of my wine glasses. It seems that too often I am pushing them around in the cabinet to find something else, and then one of them falls out and breaks. Then I end up with a bunch of mis-matched glasses, which annoys me to no end! After all, I am a Virgo!

Boy what I would give to be able to take off and go on a road trip and stay in one of the nicer resorts in Myrtle Beach that Myrtle Beach has to offer. I hear that Myrtle Beach is rocking this summer. Since the oil company BP has let so many beaches be destroyed by their oil leak that people are flocking to Myrtle Beach South Carolina, where the beaches are clean and welcoming.

I’ve checked out the website of http://avistaresort.com and I have to say that I would highly consider staying at their first class Myrtle Beach hotel. They have good golf packages to offer and the good lord knows I love playing a good round of golf. And to play golf near the beach would just be awesome. My parents got me started playing golf at the local Putt Putt, when Putt Putt was still in business. And then we started playing real games and the big people’s golf courses and I was hooked forever.

Maybe by next summer I’ll have accumulated enough vacation time and I can save up a few bucks and check out Myrtle Beach for myself. That’s something to work on.

Guest post written by Tammy Smith

To say that my aunt likes the movie “Wizard of Oz” would be a gross understatement. She’s actually obsessed and will do anything to buy items in any way related to the movie.

That makes it the easiest, yet the hardest task to buy presents for her birthday, which just happens to be soon. She has almost every kind of memorabilia that exists and that’s what people know to buy her for gifts. Some of her collections include all kinds of figurines, snow globes, afghans and T-shirts. Most of it is in the living room and it’s crazy to see how she’s positioned all of it in there perfectly. It almost makes you afraid to sit down or touch anything.

So after I got my new satellite internet packages I decided to just do my entire gift hunt online instead of going to the mall like I have in the past. I found a set of coasters and I knew she didn’t have movie-themed coasters so I bought them on wildblue internet and had them shipped to my house.

My cousin Lynne sent me an email that her son Jarod is moving across the country and she has been helping him to pack his belongings to get ready. She was helping him to comparison shop moving companies and found a website called EZ removals that provides up to six different quotes from different companies that specialize in helping people to relocate their households.

I can remember how stressful it was four years ago when we moved down here, trying to find the most economical services. The Internet sure is a great source to help people to compare prices and services on just about everything anyone needs in this day and age! And I really like the fact that it can take you beyond your local neighborhood when need be. I think that being able to comparison shop on a wider scope helps keep your neighborhood businesses competitively priced.

One of the things that is difficult for me to work in the pharmacy is the fact that only the pharmacist is allowed to bring a coat or lunch box or purse into the pharmacy. And we are not given lockers for our personal belongings. So I’ve turned to wearing men’s pants to work a lot of the time. The reason for that is I want to put my wallet and keys and cell phone in my pockets. And for the most part, women’s clothes just don’t have pockets large enough to accommodate all of that.

So when I go shopping, I often go to the Menswear department to see what kind of nice looking clothes I can find there that I can wear to work. I don’t want to look too masculine, so it is a narrow line that I have to walk. But one of the interesting things is that my son and I wear the same size, so we often go shopping together. I depend on his fashion sense to keep me up to date on what the latest in men’s fashions so I don’t look too ridiculous!

I like the spray salad dressing that they have available. You can really control the amount of the dressing this way. There is nothing worse that putting way too much dressing on your salad and then it becomes a soggy mess. A nice find spray is perfect!
