Staples had a telephone system for sale last week for half price. The phone system is a cordless one, with five handsets. Since the older system was no longer being reliable, cutting off in the middle of a call for no apparent reason, I decided to go ahead and buy the one that was on sale. The old set (which I really liked) was made by Panasonic. The new set is made by Uniden.

To be perfectly honest, I like the Panasonic better. I like the feature where the call waiting announces who is calling. The Uniden does not do that. The Panasonic handsets fit nicely on my shoulder if I have to prop the phone between my ear and shoulder. The Uniden just slides right off of my shoulder. I REALLY don’t like that – I like being able to talk with my hands free. And the Panasonic has an intercom feature; the Uniden does not. I wish my Panasonic phones worked better!

One of the things that I’ve noticed lately when I’ve gone shopping is a tendency of the grocery stores to have enclosed bulletin boards for their community announcements. I think that having enclosed cork bulletin boards in their foyer is a good idea because it helps to keep notices from falling onto the floor and getting trampled by the shoppers.

The only drawback that I can see in having enclosed fabric bulletin boards (or cork ones) is that sometimes the stores keep them locked so that you have to ask someone to come and unlock it for you to put your notice up. And if what you were hoping to do is pin several business cards on the board, having it locked prevents people from taking one of your business cards. I like them much better if they are left unlocked.

Is it just me, or does it seem as if everyone at the grocery store bought their wardrobe from a yoga supplies store? Spandex appears to be the fabric of choice nowadays! I have to admit that it is very comfortable wearing yoga pants but there are way too many people out in public wearing clothes that should not be seen outside of the gym or the privacy of your own home. I sure wish people would practice a little bit of modesty when they go shopping!

Today my hubby and I went to the local warehouse club to pick up a few things. A pair of spiky shoe cleats for my son (he walks to work) for a Christmas present, a pumpkin pie and an apple pie. The size of the pies and cakes at the warehouse club are HUGE and the prices are quite small, compared to the prices at the regular grocery store that we do our weekly shopping at. If there was a warehouse club store nearer to our house we would shop there more often; we could save a lot of money. The price of milk was amazingly low. And much to my surprise the store is now carrying my favorite breakfast cereal – Multi-grain Cheerios! I bought two boxes of those.

Perhaps we should take a hard look at working in a once-a-month trip there to stock up on some of the items.

When the nurses come to pick up their orders, they are frequently wearing the cutest scrubs! I know that there are a few places in town locally where they can buy scrubs, but I’ve only seen solid color scrubs at the local stores. I think that the nurses have been buying scrubs online to get all of the great patterns that they have been wearing.

I never realized that there are so many different categories of scrubs that are available to buy online. Only when I reached the http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/ did I realize how many choices there really are! Personally I like the lab coat look; probably because I’m used to wearing a lab coat at work. But I can see where a pediatric nurse would benefit from wearing something with a Dr. Seuss or tropical fish pattern. I can remember when I was a child, everyone wore plain white starched uniforms. I think the newer trend is a lot friendlier feeling, don’t you?
