Last night we had quite the thunderstorm! I did not hear or see any severe storm warnings on television, so I have to admit that I was taken my surprise at how close the lightning and thunder were to the house. And the lightning strikes were quite rapid, with very little time in between. I was really amazed that our little dog slept through the whole storm! He’s usually frightened to pieces and barks like crazy during storms like that. I had to search the house to look for him to make sure he was OK. He was just sound asleep, on his dog bed! I wish I could sleep through a loud storm like that!

I don’t know about you, but my family doesn’t give a rat’s tookus about protecting the furniture to keep it looking nice. As many times as I’ve begged people to not let the dogs on the furniture, and to use coasters on the tables, they simply disregard my pleas. I don’t know if it is passive aggression, or Oppositional Defiance Disorder, or what it is. All I know is that all of my good furniture is completely ruined and it makes me angry.
I hate the fact that when I sit on the sofa, or get in bed, that the furniture is covered with pet fur and it smells like pets. The smell turns my stomach. When I am going outside of the house I can’t sit down anywhere in the house after I get dressed or my clothes get covered with pet hair.
I’ve tried putting table clothes on the tables, but they get ruined in short order – someone spills red kool-aid or gravy or spaghetti sauce on it within hours of me putting it down. I’ve tried place-mats but people move them aside so they don’t get dirty! My kitchen counters are ruined because people won’t use any of the several cutting boards that line the counter – tops – they push them aside so they don’t get damaged!
I’ve started to think that maybe I just need to give up and buy cheap outdoor furniture and throw tarps over everything. As tacky as that may sound, I’ve found out that there are clear tarps on the market! I could buy a decent looking table cloth for the dining room table and cover that with a heavy-duty clear tarp so the pattern of the table cloth shows through, but the cloth is protected from the destroyers that live here. What do you think?
I’ve always loved to watch baby animals at play. They are so cute! I wish kittens would stay kittens, and not grow up to be lazy cats!
Here’s a cute video I found this morning of some kittens playing with a box. Who says you need expensive toys? My kids loved playing with boxes when they were young, too! I’m beginning to think that empty boxes are universal toys!
I love animals, and I love you tube. So I like watching you tube animal videos. Makes sense, right? I found this video by watching a clip about Princess Kate getting a charm bracelet for a wedding gift, and that led to this. Isn’t it strange how one thing leads to something completely unrelated, but even better than what you started out watching!
