I’m always annoyed by the doctors that order eye drops for people to use to get rid of their conjunctivitis. I know that there is an oral antibiotic that they can take to fix the problem. And the eye drops really hurt! I’ve had to use them myself a few times, and let me tell you, they REALOLY HURT! So I fell really sorry for the poor kids that have to use the eye drops. I wish the doctors would just prescribe the oral medicine instead.

There are many shows that my family likes to watch but one that we never miss and actually make a family event of is the Food Network’s Chopped. This is one of the most creative and challenging shows to come onto direct TV in a very long time. What, aside from the challenge of the competitions, is so unique about this show?
For my family the biggest draw of this show is the challenge of trying to come up with something uniquely delicious that will satisfy the panel of three expert culinary judges. The catch to the challenge is the mystery basket of ingredients that each chef is given. The mystery basket doesn’t contain your ordinary, run of the mill ingredients, it contains unusual items such as ostrich eggs and kiwis. The chefs have 30 minutes to come up with three courses with the ingredients off the top of their heads, and to make them delicious to the judges.
The shows name is derived from the show’s theme that after each course the contestant who didn’t quite measure up in the opinions of the judges is eliminated or “Chopped”, from the competition. One aspect that entertains my family so thorougly is that we like to try and come up with dishes from the basket of unusual ingredients as well as trying to predict the winner.
I have to admit that I’m not very sophisticated when it comes to dealing with my 401K and IRA. I know that it is a good idea to have them, to help provide for financial security when I finally reach retirement age. But I thought that these accounts had to be stocks and bonds. It was only recently that I discovered that I could have a gold IRA investment as well.
The next time my investment counselor calls me I’m going to ask him about IRA gold, and whether I should put some into my account.
To be perfectly honest, I’m not even sure at this point if I have a 401k or an IRA! I just remember a few months ago doing a rollover from a 401k plan. So I guess I’ll need to ask him about 401k gold too.
I know he is always talking about diversification, but lately I’ve been leaning towards the conservative side. My head starts to hurt just thinking about it!
There is a pizza parlor right across the street from our pharmacy, and today we decided to order pizza for lunch and have it delivered. That is a treat for us – we only get 30 minute lunch breaks, and when we order pizza in we are allowed to eat the pizza at any time and still take a 30 minute break too.
The four of us split three pizzas, and there was a lot left over, so we put the leftovers in the refrigerator and will have pizza again tomorrow! I like it when we do that – when I bring pizza home there usually aren’t any leftovers for me to eat the next day!
There is one young lady that I work with that has a lot of learning to do about life. I find myself biting my tongue around her a lot. She is a very opinionated young lady, who seems to think that she is smarter than anyone else in the world. And she has absolutely no sympathy or empathy for anyone who has become addicted to any kind of substance. She aspires to become a pharmacist, but I really don’t think that she will make a very good one, because she is so judgemental.
I guess maybe I’m a little bit more sensitive to the dilemmas of substance abuse because I have had several close friends and family members who have had to go through some kind of alcohol rehab in their lives. One very discouraging fact is that for most people, they have to go to an alcohol treatment center more than once to get their addiction under control. I think that there is a need for more alcohol treatment options for low-income people. Addiction strikes people regardless of income levels!
