My little sister graduated from high school last night. I was so proud of her, she really did it! High school is such a tough thing to get through; so many social pressures to do the wrong things. So many of her friends were getting into trouble so frequently I was afraid that they were going to do something that would end up with ALL of them in jail, with my little sister right beside them just because she happened to be in the car when the rest of them did something stupid.
Well, she has graduated and now she has some vocational training to look forward to in the fall. She says she wants to be an X-ray technician. I think that’s a wise choice because the health field is always going to need X-ray technicians.
Today was stressful one for me. I’m sorry to say that I’m not feeling well, I have a sinus infection going on and it is making me miserable. Yes, I’m taking medicine for it, but it is still making me want to just go to bed and stay there. Unfortunately, I don’t have that luxury available to me, I need to go to work.
Anyway, today when I was waiting on a customer who was picking up his medicines. I asked him if he had any questions for the pharmacist about his medications. He asked me for the directions on how and when to take the medicine. I pulled out the prescription bottle from the bag and read the directions from the label to him. Then I asked him if he had any more questions, he said “no” and “thank you” and went on his way.
As soon as he left the pharmacist was all over me like flies on doggie droppings! She lectured me on how I’m not allowed to “counsel” the patients, only she is allowed to “counsel” the patient. I told her that all I had done was read the label to him, and wasn’t I allowed to read the label to him? Well, then she said “yes, of course” I could read the label to him, but I can’t interpret it. Well, I didn’t interpret it, I just read it. Geez, give me a break! This woman is a real doozie! I wish I was independently wealthy and could just stay home!
We have a customer that calls our pharmacy every day as soon as it opens. She talks to one of us for at least thirty minutes. She is a very nice lady, but her timing is really bad! When the pharmacy first opens it is slammed with customers wanting to pick up the prescriptions that they called in for refills overnight. No one worked overnight, so the opening crew needs to hustle and fill them all as soon as possible.
Well, today we received a huge gift basket full of fruit, crackers, cake and snack foods delivered to us. The card said it was from the lady who calls us every morning, thank us for our patience! Wasn’t that nice of her! I think accepting it is a violation of the company’s policies, but I’m not the one the basket was addressed to, and I’m not the one who accepted it, so I won’t get in trouble. It would be interesting to see if anyone DOES get in trouble for it!
