Yesterday I learned that one of my favorite pharmacists “K” has decided to resign from where I work. He’s a really nice guy and I’m going to miss him. It seems that he has been working at two different pharmacy chains for many years and that the chain I work for has suddenly decided that it is a conflict of interest for him to work at the two different places, so he was told that he has to resign from one of the chains. Well, he makes more money at the other chain so he is leaving “my” store.
I think it really is a shame; I know that there are a lot of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians that work for more than one chain and none of them have been told that they have to pick one or the other! There is a shortage of pharmacists, and I think that the stores need to start cooperating and sharing if they want to keep their stores manned! Anyway, yesterday was the last day that I am going to see “K.” I wanted to hug him goodbye, but I knew that would make him uncomfortable so I just shook his hand and told him I was going to miss him and wished him good luck.
