Well yesterday was full of more aggravation. I was scheduled to work from 11am-7pm. I’m supposed to be in training and learning how to do things, but it appears that most of the time that I am working no one wants to give me the chance to learn anything at all. They just want me to man the counters – taking in orders and cashing them out. I’m not given hardly any time at all to work on the computers to input and process the prescriptions. And since I’m not getting much computer time, when I finally DO get a few minutes on the computer, if I run into a situation that I don’t know how to handle and ask for help I get a lot of grief about asking for help! Very aggravating indeed!

Hi folks! I just joined Technorati! My sister told me that if I wanted to be taken seriously as a blogger, that joining Technorati is a “must do!” So, that’s what I’ve done! After all, I want to be taken seriously for sure! I’ve just joined; if you want to see my Technorati Profile just click on the link! I’m curious to see what effect joining Technorati has on my “taken seriously” ratings!
Much to my surprise, I have today off of work! My friends who live a few towns away have invited me to come out to their place for a noon time Memorial Day Barbeque, so I’ll be leaving in a short while to head out. I asked them if I could bring anything and they said no, just to come.
I’m looking forward to grilled steaks, potato salad, devilled eggs and corn on the cob! Yummy!
There is a new grocery store being built in town. It is supposed to open next month. A few months ago I applied for a job as a pharmacy technician over the Internet. Yesterday their human resources office called me and asked me if I was still interested! I said I was still interested, so we set up a job interview for next week! I’m hopeful to get the job! As much as I like working at the pharmacy where I am currently working, I need more hours. It would be nice if I can work at both places! In these uncertain times, having jobs at more than one location is a good way to hedge your bets!
Today a customer (a man) was shopping at “my” pharmacy, walking up and down the aisles. He had his young (about 5 years old) daughter with him. Suddenly he collapsed in a heap on the floor! One of the store employees rushed to the man, another to the pharmacy and got the pharmacist “L” to come check out the man. She checked his pulse and blood pressure and decided that they were really bad and the store manager called rescue. A fire truck arrived within a couple of minutes (it was really fast, but really a FIRE TRUCK? The man collapsed on the floor, he didn’t spontaneously combust!)
So the man was taken to the hospital. The store manager went along to watch the little girl. She ended up staying at the hospital for a couple of hours to watch the little girl until the wife could arrive; apparently the wife worked over an hour’s drive away! That was really nice of the store manager to volunteer to stay!
Needless to say, many customers saw the fire truck and ambulance and asked about the drama for much of the day. I don’t know if the man is OK or not. Sure hope so! It sure was lucky he was in the store when he collapsed, and not out driving his car!
Yesterday I learned that one of my favorite pharmacists “K” has decided to resign from where I work. He’s a really nice guy and I’m going to miss him. It seems that he has been working at two different pharmacy chains for many years and that the chain I work for has suddenly decided that it is a conflict of interest for him to work at the two different places, so he was told that he has to resign from one of the chains. Well, he makes more money at the other chain so he is leaving “my” store.
I think it really is a shame; I know that there are a lot of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians that work for more than one chain and none of them have been told that they have to pick one or the other! There is a shortage of pharmacists, and I think that the stores need to start cooperating and sharing if they want to keep their stores manned! Anyway, yesterday was the last day that I am going to see “K.” I wanted to hug him goodbye, but I knew that would make him uncomfortable so I just shook his hand and told him I was going to miss him and wished him good luck.
Today was annual inventory. I was “on loan” to a very busy pharmacy today and had to man both the indoor cash register and the drive through window by myself. There was never a time when there wasn’t at least two people (or cars) in line waiting to pick up their medicines. I asked the other pharmacy technician to help out when the line got really long and she kept refusing! The store that I usually work at would never have let that happen!
But the pharmacist that was working today was very busy, doing the annual inventory. She was stressed to the max! I got the impression that she did not do any of the inventory ahead of time because I saw the sheets of paper she needed to fill out and they were all blank. I was surprised because the other pharmacies that I’ve worked in had been much better prepared and had started to do their inventory ahead of time.
Anyway, when it was time to punch out I was out of there like a shot! I’m not anxious to go work at that store again! I was really tired!
