Well I knew that there would be a lot to learn, but I am surprised how complicated the computer system is to process prescriptions at the pharmacy that I’ll be working in. I know I’ll “get it” eventually, but I’m a little bit taken aback by the learning curve involved. I’m not usually the type of person that has to be shown something more than once, but let me tell you, I am going to need to be shown this procedure many times before I get it “down pat.” I think I’ll be commuting to the “training location” for a few weeks longer than I originally thought. I’m a quick learner, but this system is a tough one! Fortunately, all of the people there are as nice as you could ever hope to meet! So I’m really happy going there, and don’t really care if it takes a long time to learn the job – you could not ask for a more pleasant work environment!

Chinese food is one of my favorite foods. I like it so much that we had Chinese food for our wedding reception meal! Lately, due to the bad economy and the price of living going up we’ve cut way back on eating “restaurant foods” trying to minimize our expenses. But we decided to spring for a small order of Chinese food as a special celebratory dinner in honor of my landing the job as a pharmacy technician, and my first work day on the payroll starting tomorrow. So my son did the honors of going to the local restaurant to bring home the Chinese Take-out. After not having any Chinese food in over two months, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed that meal!
Well I’ve been negotiating a job with a local pharmacy for about two months now, and I called the Pharmacy manager last Saturday after I got my notification that I passed the exam to let him know that I passed the National Certification exam. I had to leave a message on his voice mail, and asked me to call me back. He finally DID call me back and asked me when I can start training. Finally!
It really is a chore nowadays to land a job, it takes so long for the companies to process the requisitions to hire you. So, I start my training this weekend! He said that I have to do a lot of Computer Based Training, and he is going to send me to a location for training that will be different than the one that I’ll ultimately be working in. I don’t care, I just want to get working! So, wish me luck on my new adventure!
I was so shocked to discover in today’s mail that I passed the National Certification exam! I really was quite sure that I had flunked it! I had no hope whatsoever that I passed it; I was thinking that it had been a total waste of my money to pay the exam fee, and was already thinking about how I was going to prepare better to take it again so that the next time I would pass it!
When I walked down to the mailbox today and brought in the mail, there was a large flat envelope with my name on it. I thought it was probably some kind of junk mail, but when I looked at the return address and saw that it was from the Certification Board, I thought “what the heck? Why are they sending me the “you flunked” letter in such a large envelope?” But it was a certificate suitable for framing, along with a congratulatory letter for passing the exam! I let out a shriek and I started doing a little “victory dance” to celebrate! My hubby and son thought I’d lost my mind for sure!
Hello all of you folks out in Cyber Space! My name is Paige. I’m trying to get a job as a Pharmacy Technician. I took a course last summer that was designed to help me pass the State Certification, which I took in October and passed. I took the National Pharmacy Exam in November, and I have to say it was a lot harder than I expected to be, and I am really afraid that I didn’t pass that one. They told me that it would take up to three weeks for me to find out if I passed or not. There were a lot of questions on the exam that I just guessed at – I was very disappointed in that. I was hoping that if I got my National Certification that it might be easier to find a Pharm Tech job. So now it’s just wait and see.
